Thank you to those that have worked with John in the past

A special thank you to those that have been in business with John in the past. You have provided some great information into previous legal actions filed against John in his prior business dealings. It makes me sick to know that he and Marissa have gotten away with this for so long, first stealing through his business dealings and then moving on to families, especially those that he knew he would be hurting so severely.

So a sincere thanks to those that have given us the additional information, oit will be tough for the DA to not prosecute this case in a timely manner given all the information we have now on the Cantu's dealings.

This is not just going to go away, we won't stop until John and his wife get the jail time they deserve. And the more people or family members of his that we can tie to the case the better. This is just turning into a little den of liars that all appear to be involved.

We will do our Best to keep informing those that John and Marissa are more than likely to attempt to scam. You know his friends, parents at his children's schools, little league parents and the like. E-mails will be sent to the parents and administration of St. Johns where John and Marissa send their children in an effort to find more victims, we know they are there.

  1. As a mother of a St. John student, thank you. I just received an email about the Cantus. This is just tragic and it is not what is taught at our school. I hope these parents will either make good on the money they have taken or pay the piper and do their deserved time. It is awful what they are teaching their children by what they do. Leading by example is just as important, if not more, than sending your child to a private school. Children aren't stupid. They see more than we think. I'm sorry to all of the folks who fell for this deception and will pray for resolution.

  2. We are a St. John's family and were glad to receive a link to this blog. We invested $25k with our "friends", the Cantu's, during the summer of 2008. Since that time we've felt so stupid and embarrassed for trusting them. It took us along time to even bring ourselves to file a police report. We are very thankful for those of you that came forward to The Sentry and publized their scam.

It's just unbelievable that people would do this where they live and where their children go to school and play ball. We have so much compassion for their wonderful children. They have had the rug pulled out from under them and all they have believed about their family and parents is being exposed as a lie.

We are praying for healing for all the families put under tremendous stress by this deception and for restitution of the money that has been stolen.

  3. I am so glad the Cantus are finally being revealed for what they are. It is hard to watch them prance around like they are the perfect St. John family. They have stolen a LOT of money from me and yet continue to see me around school, acting as if nothing has happened.

These people are not Christian. They need to be brought to justice and I'm glad this blog is here and the paper and email are bringing their life of lies to life. Something needed to be done and it is good that the news is beginning to be broadcast. What they do to their kids by this lie they live is a sin and unfortunately, if they don't pay all they owe, their kids will one day see them for what they are.

  4. We think this email notification is a great idea. Are there more email contacts that can be utilized such as Villa Park H.S., and all the other social activities that Marissa and John scammed victims from?

    ReplyDelete
  5. If you have email addresses you would like us to send notification to, please send to jhandtr@aol.com. We did send out to Villa Park parents as there were many victims there (a couple on their son's basketball team, of course).

  6. Tammy Robinson, John Robinson/John Havey - how low of you to use the St. Johns school RENWEB directory to send out your e-mails. You say you gamble with your kids college funds. Don't gamble with what you can't afford to loose. You sound like the captain of the ship of fools.

Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

  7. This person completely missed the point. Was it really a gamble? If someone is promising a better and quicker return than the stock market, and you trust this person, and he is respected throughout the community as stand up citizen, is this a gamble? Wouldn't you feel safe? Christian guy, Christian values. Why not? Everyone was looking for a return on an investment to help fortify their futures. The point isn't using the RENWEB, rather the hundreds of thousands of dollars that were stolen by the Cantus from the victims. Let's not forget that. All of these people are not gamblers. According to your post, we should be wise by keeping silent. Well, tell that to the families that lost money. Also, you shouldn't vent YOUR anger at the people trying to bring justice to someone who has hurt so many. Be wise and keep silent yourself. You're not helping.

  8. I think it is wonderful that these folks reached out to SO many, hoping that the same thing does not happen to others. If you hear what is being said, this couple (the Cantus) continue to live off of the money they steal from their friends. We all need to open our email address books and forward their message.

  9. Why wouldn't someone send an e-mail to possible victims of a scam? Scam artists rely on people not talking about the scam. Scam artists work in the shadows, and since the articles in the Foothills Sentry, this blog, and the e-mails, the police are actually getting ready to arrest John and Marrissa. The police came to their home with a search warrant and are actively working to put them in jail. They broke the law. These were not investments gone bad. They stole money under false pretenses moron. If someone steals your wallet and uses your credit cards should we turn the other cheek and say oh well. If someone steals your car was it an act of God? Thieves need to go to jail. Bernie Maddoff should not be allowed to walk the streets and enjoy stolen money. Scamming people is a crime just like other crimes. If you feel that the Cantu's should not have to work for a living then you support them. The people they stole from worked hard for their money, and the Cantu's have not actually worked for years and live better than the people they steal from.
The purpose of the E-mail was to warn future victims. It is as simple as that.

    Sicerely,

    John Havey

  10. Nicely put, Mr. Havey. Touche!

  11. It sounds to us that the earlier pinhead moron that defended the crooks could have actually been written by John or Marissa Cantu...or both as they work well as a team to deceive.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It sounds exactly like something John Cantu would say, namely because his story is finally out. The bible quote is a nice touch. I told him to pay up and we'd announce to all his St. John family that we are all wrong. So, John and Marissa - show us what you're really all and pay back the money you stole from us. THEN, you can prove that this was an INVESTMENT and not what it really is, a SCAM.

  13. Not sure if the email with attachments was sent to St. John administrative offices. Just in case, I will make a copy and bring in to them. Many of us agree that they need to know what is going on in our community here. People's lives are being adversely impacted by one of our own.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thank you for alerting all of us, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  15. St. John sent an email telling us to disregard the email sent. While I understand that they don't appreciate people using our email addresses, the content was the important part of it. As a victim, I am happy someone took the ball here. I will continue to spread the word and urge everyone to believe it and warn others. These two (as a team) prey on good Christian people. We as a community need to stop them. I know there are many more among us. It is wrong NOT to report what they do to the authorities because this allows them to continue to steal from other families. People like the Cantus rely on people to keep quiet as someone said above. Thank you whoever you are who sent the emails to St. John's. We live in a law abiding society and criminals need to be pointed out so that they can be legally prosecuted and brought to justice.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Okay, I see above. Thank you, Tammy Robinson. You and the others are making it easier for those of us quiet ones to finally make a stand.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thank you for sending the emails and starting this blog. This duo needs to be stopped. They hurt us and we know of others too Christian to say anything out loud. Hopefully, we can convince them that others are being hurt more than we are and they need to step up to the plate. They are parishioners.

  18. Finally, people are listening at St. John's. I am one of the victims too distraught to speak up but now that people are talking, I'm telling them that this information is correct. This couple has turned my world upside down and by the grace of God, someone is taking the lead to make sure that they are brought to justice.

  19. I am a sibling with someone who bought a boat with them....my brother is looking for Johna nd Marissa b/c they are 6 months behind on payments. If you know where the losers live, please post. If you read this blog as a first time reader, please know that good people don't lie. The Cantu's are the devil in our community and they just ruined yet another life by their "honest" agreement to keep up their share of an investment. CANTUrds...pay up. Wish you'd move OUT, btw. NOONE wants you here infecting peoples' lives like CANCER (CANTU-CANCER!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hope you're reading this, John and Marissa. We don't want you here. You're not welcome. We have your number. Move away so we don't see you spending all of your victims' money and not giving a damn about doing it in front of us.

  21. This blog is brilliant!!!!! Keep posting and filing your claims against the Cantus! John and Marisa, we know you're feeling the heat. It's only a matter of time Mr. Spinmaster, you're finally caught in your own web of lies! One question, Marisa still shows her face around town? What's her behavior like?

    ReplyDelete
  22. As someone who can go back knowing these thieves for MANY years; I commend those who have spoken up – It is not easy to take a stand and air this type of tom-foolery. For those who think attacking the whistle blowers is the right thing to do… Wake up. Quoting scripture to attack, THAT is un-Christian!

Here is a tid-bit for you supporters – Did you know John and Marisa used to be Catholic? Oh, yes. They became Lutheran’s to “save money” on the school tuition – they forsake the Lord, to save money…

IT is only RIGHT to share the information available with as many people as possible. Anyone who is saved the embarrassment, stress, shock and disbelief these people cause is worth standing up for.

It is not only this investment scheme John and Marisa have run. He is also known for stealing from employers, employees, friends, customers, church-goers’, little league parents and so on. HE is a smooth talker if ever there was one.

Wake up and stop finding excuses for defending and supporting them. I ASSURE you, they are thieves. Their day of reckoning WILL come. I just hope it comes before another innocent person gets caught up in their web of lies and cons.

I believe a certain amount of detail, relayed to the Police Department, should be kept off the blog – why let the Spin-Masters in on what has been shared with the police. They shall know, first hand soon enough -

Karma is all that it is rumored to be.

The proof is in the pudding ….

  23. If Marisa and John Cantu could just pay people their "initial investments", I think we would ALL be happy. They can keep their profits. What do you say, Cantus? Are you able to pay up and show that we're wrong? Can you show that you are the good people you say you are? Can you be good examples of honest, giving, hardworking people? If you can do this, all is renounced and forgiven. Show us the money and we can "put this to bed" in your own words.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You have to give a round of applause to the Cantus. The life they've led for so many years is a travesty that has fooled the best of us.

Now, it is our turn to turn off your charade and end your thievery.

Karma, baby. We'll all survive, undoubtedly by the REAL good friends in this world (as opposed to fakes like yourselves). You two, on the other hand, will be brought to justice.

Looking forward to that day and spreading the word around so everyone will be safe from your wrath.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What's up, Cantu's? Can't prove your innocence, honesty or morality, can you? Can't pay any of the money you've stolen either, can you? Can't prove you really invested, can you? C'mon... Show the few nay-sayers that you're the honest and innocent folk you say you are. Everyone's waiting on you.

  26. Renting again, close to the old place in VP. Can't hide too long. Someone needs to let the owner know what he/she may run into.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Meaning - alert the homeowner that although the Cantus have taken millions from others, they don't use it to pay rent. Their pattern is eviction due to non-payment of rent (or so we hear...)

    ReplyDelete
  28. It is just so amazing to me that these people continue to live in the community where they have stolen from so many. When are these pathetic people going to get picked up and thrown in jail? What else is needed by the OPD?? So frustrating to see...

    ReplyDelete
  29. This isn't to all of you, but to a few;

The few on this blog and commenting on this blog that are mentioning or bringing the Cantu kids into this situation need to stop.

I know the eldest of them and he is a good kid with a great sense of humor. I assure you that he nor any of his siblings will turn into the man that John turned out to be.

The situation that these kids are going through with their parents are tragic as well, so you can leave them out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bring the Cantu kids into this situation? What does that ignorant statement mean? If we are not mistaken...John and Marissa and all their dirty dealings brought their kids into this situation. John and Marissa are the ones that kept living the life they chose and exposing the kids to all the fall out. The kids, and many others are victims...take it out on John and Marissa. By the way, how can you assure the the children will never turn into the man, and yes you need to include the woman Marissa turned out to be? Im sure there are many that thought the same about John and Marissa, that they would never turn out to be the people they turned out to be.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Show everyone your stuff, John and Marissa! Pay back the families you took money from. They did not give it to you to live on. They invested it in good faith with you. Understand you're hiding out but wouldn't it be beneficial to you, your investors and your family if you just returned it? I don't know how you can live with yourselves when confronted with all the accusations, police filings and lawsuits when you have the ability to redeem yourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is in response to the mention of the kids: I totally agree that the kids should be kept out of this. Unfortunately, it is already too late. The parents dragged them into this. When these poor youths are sitting in a foster home wondering where their parents are, the foster parents will have to confirm that they are serving time for stealing money from friends. Whose fault will that be? The victims? The people they stole money from? Or will it be their own fault?

It was the Cantus who chose not to work but to steal...to live the high life on the backs of everyone else's sweat. They have the nerve to hide behind their children. If they would have EVER thought about their children, they would have been like the rest of us and worked instead of stealing from people. What have they done for society that gives them the free ride? They put their own children in harm's way the very first time they stole from their FRIENDS and every single time after that. THIS WAS THEIR CHOICE TO GET THEIR CHILDREN INVOLVED FROM THE ONSET. While it is tragic for the children, I am even sorrier for the children of the families they've victimized.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with the comment above. It was the Cantus that brought their children into it by preying on the parents of their childrens' schools & leagues. Here is a new Cantu Incredible. (new to me anyway) John's son was on a travel baseball team. The team had to collect money to enter a tournament. Guess who volunteered to collect all the money and pay the tournament entry fee? John Cantu. Guess who paid? Everyone else. Guess who didn't go to the tournament because the entry fee was never sent? Unbelievable balls!! I'm told these folks also filed a police report. Please Detective Pasino, hurry up and arrest these two crooks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. These TWO crooks, Det. Pasino! Ask all of us - this couple work as a team. It is NOT just John. It is John and Marissa.
